Community Engagement in La Guajira

Enel Green Power is building three wind farms in La Guajira, a department located on the northern coast of Colombia with the second-worst socioeconomic indicators in the country. This situation is exacerbated by the crisis in Venezuela, as the migrant population now living in this area has a pressing need for social services and opportunities for economic inclusion. FAVLA is supporting this company to ensure that its social investment is strategic and targeted, with a positive impact on communities in its area of influence.

The goal is to implement 10 projects that facilitate engagement and that bring the company closer to the communities, creating trust and dialogue.

Project Activities & Approaches

  • Community empowerment to generate dialogue, respect, trust, and empowerment
  • Participatory implementation of 10 community infrastructure projects

  • Through use of the DecidoSer methodology, the company and the indigenous communities participating in the projects have achieved greater levels of trust
  • Five of the planned 10 projects have been implemented.
