Jini Kades was part of the 10th Class of Leland Fellows from September 2019 to August 2021 and supported ACDI/VOCA-led Feed the Future activities in Bangladesh. Prior to becoming a Leland Fellow, Jini worked as an independent research consultant focused on sustainable housing and access to education for underserved communities. She has studied the mental health effects of Latino migrant farmworkers in Vermont’s dairy sector as well as alternatives to conventional farming practices on family dairy farms in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. She holds undergraduate degrees in international studies and economics from Guilford College and an MS in community development and applied economics from the University of Vermont (UVM), along with a graduate certificate in ecological economics from the UVM’s Gund Institute for Environment.
