From 2023-2025, the USAID-funded Employment and Enterprise Development Activity (EEDA) set out with a bold vision: to unlock Tajikistan’s economic potential through private sector-led growth, job creation, and sustainable livelihoods.
In just over a year, EEDA made remarkable strides:
- 10 partnerships co-created with local enterprises, exceeding Year 1 targets
- 495 direct and 408 indirect jobs created in less than a year
- $3M+ in private sector investment leveraged, with a projected pipeline of $60M+
- $49.8M in investment agreements secured at an international forum
- 400+ concept notes submitted by businesses eager to collaborate
- Stronger U.S. perception in Tajikistan, with increased trust and visibility

EEDA’s market systems development (MSD) approach treated local firms as long-term partners, not just grantees, ensuring sustainability and shared ownership. Through the Market Partnership Fund, the project catalyzed innovation in textiles, food processing, and IT, while also enhancing workforce skills and enterprise resilience.

Though the project concluded earlier than planned, its ripple effects are just beginning. With over 60,000 people initially targeted to benefit over five years, EEDA laid the groundwork for a more stable Tajikistan.
We’re proud to have been part of this journey and grateful to our partners, stakeholders, and the people of Tajikistan for their trust and collaboration.
