Abigail Spangler is an associate director supporting gender and youth integration within a portfolio of agricultural and market systems programs. In this role, she supports the development and rollout of technical and thought leadership in gender and youth. Her experience spans program design, training, research and evaluation in women’s empowerment, gender integration, gender-based violence prevention and response, youth development, and social inclusion, including disability inclusion. Prior to joining ACDI/VOCA in 2020, Abie supported USAID’s Advancing the Agenda of Gender Equality (ADVANTAGE) IDIQ, which focused on integrating gender equality across all aspects of Agency programming. She has coauthored several USAID gender analyses and supported work in Malaysia providing humanitarian aid to Burmese refugees. Abie is a returned Peace Corps volunteer from Peru, where she worked with youth. She holds a BA in political science from the University of Oregon and an MA in cross-cultural communications and international relations from Newcastle University.
