James Collins is the chief of party of USAID Kenya and East Africa’s flagship resilience project, the Resilience Learning Activity, overseeing and providing technical director to the Nairobi- and Northern Kenya-based team using a facilitative, locally driven, adaptive management approach. The Resilience Learning Activity is an Associate Award under the Feed the Future Kenya Livestock Market Systems Activity, a Leader with Associates contracting mechanism, held by ACDI/VOCA and funded by USAID. Prior to joining ACDI/VOCA in 2019, James was the deputy chief of party of Africa Lead II, a Feed the Future initiative funded by USAID and implemented by DAI. Based in Nairobi, he oversaw regional and bilateral programming across five portfolios in food security policy, institutional strengthening, and resilience. James holds a BA in anthropology and political science from Kansas State University and an MPA from New York University. He is fluent in English and French.
