Senior Director of Business Development, Resilience & Growth
Beth Leonhardt is a senior director of business development leading our strategic efforts to identify and pursue programmatic funding opportunities in the Resilience & Growth group. She serves as a technical lead, technical writer, and manager on select proposals. Prior to joining ACDI/VOCA in 2016, Beth taught in public schools serving low-income American and refugee students for three years before moving to Washington, D.C., to pursue her master’s degree. During graduate school, she worked with an organic sugarcane cooperative in rural Ecuador, which sparked her interest in agricultural cooperatives. Upon graduating, Beth consulted with the Organization of American States and Root Change. From 2011 to 2016, she held multiple roles at DAI Global. This included providing project management support, serving as a monitoring and evaluation officer for a project addressing socio-environmental conflicts in Peru and Colombia, and supporting proposal development as a new business specialist. She holds a BA in anthropology and Spanish from Washington University in St. Louis and an MA in international development from American University. Beth has completed MA-level courses in early childhood education at Agnes Scott College and is fluent in English and Spanish. She also served on the alumni board for American University’s international development master’s program.
