The ACIP program was honored with the Orden de la Democracia Simon Bolivar en el grado Cruz Comendador for institutional contributions to the development of Afro-Colombian communities. An event was held at the Capitolio Nacional in Bogotá to honor the program, launch a communications platform that highlights Afro-Colombian issues in different media, commemorate the Día de la Afrocolombianidad (May 21), and initiate the International Decade Dedicated to People of African Descent.
