Philippines – Agricultural Cooperative Sector Study
Working with Domestic & Foreign Partners to Coordinate Development Activities
From 1992 to 1994 JA-ZENCHU, the Central Union of Agricultural Cooperatives in Japan, and the U.S. Overseas Cooperative Development Committee (OCDC), together with ACDI/VOCA as the lead organization, conducted a dialogue to identify activities for collaboration with U.S. and Japanese cooperatives in developing Asian countries. The result was the 12-month Philippines Agricultural Cooperative Sector Study. Working under a grant from the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership (CGP), additional activities were implemented including a workshop in the Philippines to discuss future U.S.-Japanese projects and to clarify the relationships between the two countries’ cooperative development organizations and their respective funding agencies in consumer, housing, credit, energy and insurance issues.
