ACDI/VOCA Launches New ‘Support Our Volunteers’ Web Page

WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 16, 2009—International economic development organization ACDI/VOCA today launched a new web-based fundraising site, Support Our Volunteers (www.acdivoca.org/donate), to help expand its expert volunteer program through the VOCA Foundation Fund.

“Volunteer service is a powerful part of our international development work,” says Diana Roach, director of the ACDI/VOCA Volunteer Program. “We match U.S. volunteer technical experts with project needs around the world, which helps to extend exponentially the reach and impact of our work.

“Being able to supplement these efforts through individual gifts will help us send even more experts into the field, and make an even greater difference in the on-the-ground skills transfer that often occurs in our projects,” she says. “When people have the know-how they need to improve their business processes and better engage with regional and international markets, they make incredible things happen for themselves and their communities.”

The new Support Our Volunteers web page (www.acdivoca.org/donate) provides a quick and easy way for individuals to contribute to the VOCA Foundation Fund, created to support the ACDI/VOCA volunteer program. The monies donated to the VOCA Foundation Fund—100 percent—help to send additional volunteers to ACDI/VOCA overseas projects and, through training and other capacity-building efforts, support beneficiaries. The monies are used to pay for travel expenses and training resources.
