New Project Won: Colombia—Specialty Coffee Value Chain
ACDI/VOCA has won a $52,631, nine-month fixed-price agreement, funded by the Colombian government’s Department de La Guajira, to help strengthen the coffee value chain in the Municipality of Dibulla.
The organization will provide technical assistance to coffee producers of the indigenous Koguis group.
Stronger Coffee Value Chains
ACDI/VOCA has worked with local farmers and partners in Colombia since 2002 to improve the country’s coffee value chain. Our USAID Specialty Coffee Program provides farmers in the Caldas, Cuaca, Huila, Nariņo and Tolima regions with the skills and market insight they need to enhance their coffees’ quality to be marketable in premium world markets.
This new award allows the ACDI/VOCA team to strengthen relationships between the different value chain players and equip farmers with the know-how and linkages they need to seize the opportunities that premium-quality coffee offers for licit livelihoods.
By breaking into global markets, farmers realize a higher return for their investment and greater increases in income.
