Mali – Mali Agricultural Value Enhancement Network (MAVEN)
Addressing Value Chain Constraints to Empower Producer Groups
ACDI/VOCA works to improve agriculture in Mali through the use of volunteer technical experts.
With partner Winrock International, ACDI/VOCA implements the $2.1 million, USAID-funded Mali Agricultural Value Enhancement Network (MAVEN) program. The program provides solutions and support to improve the Malian agriculture sector.
Program Increases Food Security and Economic Growth
The MAVEN program contributes to USAID/Mali’s Accelerating Economic Growth Strategic Objective and makes a positive impact on Mali’s food security and economic growth. The program will:
- Improve production, processing, storage and marketing of select agricultural crops
- Enhance business management skills of farmers, farmer associations/cooperatives and agribusinesses
- Increase access to quality inputs and finance
Volunteers Share Expertise
The ACDI/VOCA team will field a total of 70 volunteers during the three-year program, in addition to those currently provided under the West Africa Farmer-to-Farmer program in Mali. The team recruits volunteer experts from a variety of international sources in the United States and Europe, and also uses local and regional volunteers from Mali and elsewhere in Africa.
ACDI/VOCA has 40 years of experience sending professionals overseas as volunteer consultants providing technical assistance with field projects in agribusiness, enterprise development, community development, food security and financial services. ACDI/VOCA has completed over 10,300 volunteer assignments in more than 130 countries since 1971.
