Shipra Deo
Gender and Livelihoods Specialist, India
Shipra Deo is a gender and livelihoods expert specializing in project designing and planning; monitoring and evaluation; and project implementation. She has experience working with international donors such as USAID, the United Nations Development Programme and the World Bank, as well as with local governmental agencies, private sector companies and nongovernmental organizations. Ms. Deo serves as a gender specialist for ACDI/VOCA’s programming in India. She previously served on the USAID-funded Strengthening Women to Combat Violence Against Them Through Collective Action project in India. In this capacity she monitored project reporting and implementation, organized trainings and workshops on gender issues, and conducted a study on the practice of Nata (a system of secondary marriage in Rajasthan). She has authored several publications including a Q&A booklet on India’s Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act. She earned her M.S. in environmental sciences from Lucknow University in India. She earned her B.S. in agriculture and animal husbandry from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology in India. She is fluent in Hindi and English.
