Kassu Kebede Anawet

Program Manager, Ethiopian Coffee Development Program


Kassu Kebede Anawet has more than 28 years of experience in developmental extension and regulatory services for the production, processing and marketing of coffee and associated crops. He currently serves as ACDI/VOCA's program manager for the Cordaid-funded Ethiopian Coffee Development Program (ECDP), which works to increase smallholder incomes by focusing on the major constraints in the coffee value chain: coffee productivity, quality, traceability and export management. Previously, he worked as a development coordinator and technical expert for Ethiopia's Ministry of Coffee and Tea Development in Harrarge, Sidamo and Oromia. He provided technical support and helped develop and implement extension programs for the production and processing of coffee and associated crops. Mr. Anawet has also acted as a consultant for GTZ, the International Coffee Partners and the private sector. He has published various papers on coffee ecology, agronomy, processing and industry. In Ethiopia, Mr. Anawet earned his M.S. in agronomy from the Agricultural University of Alemaya and his B.S. in plant sciences from the Agricultural College of Alemaya, Addis Ababa University. He speaks English, Armharic and Oromiffa.
