Catherine Gibbons

Managing Director, Community Development


Managing Director Catherine Gibbons has over 25 years of experience working with civil society and government in the United States, Latin America and Africa. She has in-depth expertise in building local capacity, designing and managing community development strategies and emergency programs for children, low-income and other vulnerable groups. Experienced as a grant maker and a grant manager, Ms. Gibbons currently provides technical and managerial support to ACDI/VOCA’s integrated alternative development, community development and livelihoods development programs in Bolivia, Colombia and Nicaragua. Before joining ACDI/VOCA, she worked on long-term assignments in Colombia, Sudan, Mozambique and Angola. She has conducted numerous short-term consultancies in community development throughout Africa and Latin America. Ms. Gibbons earned a M.B.A. from Columbia University with a focus on finance and business management and a B.A. in government and Latin American studies from Wesleyan University. She speaks Spanish, Portuguese and French.
