New Project Won–Tanzania: Smallholder Horticulture Outgrower Promotion

ACDI/VOCA has won a two-year, USAID-funded Smallholder Horticulture Out-grower Promotion (SHOP) project. ACDI/VOCA will enhance the competitiveness of Tanzanian outgrowers and exporters of vegetables through two main components:

• productivity enhancement—by assisting producers to be better organized and effectively linking them with private and public sector extension services, ACDI/VOCA will enable small farmers to improve their productivity, resulting in increased profitability along the entire value chain
• strengthening market linkages—to ensure sustainable integration of small farmers into profitable value chains, ACDI/VOCA will help establish and strengthen outgrower programs targeting both the export market and the import substitution market for high-value fresh vegetables
