U.S. Embassy of Beirut Photo of the Week Highlights ACDI/VOCA Program
The U.S. Embassy of Beirut selected an image of people sampling Lebanese olives and cheeses at the 53rd Annual Fancy Foods Show in New York City as its “Photo of the Week.” “Photo of the Week” is a product of the U.S. Embassy of Beirut to highlight the U.S. Government's development, relief, reconstruction and humanitarian assistance to Lebanon.
ACDI/VOCA’s Action for Sustainable Agro-Industry in Lebanon (ASAIL) program sponsored the participation of eight Lebanese companies at the Fancy Foods Show in order to showcase their products and boost trade opportunities. The Embassy estimates that the show resulted in $745,000 in immediate sales with the potential to generate more revenue from future contracts.
ACDI/VOCA's ASAIL project in Lebanon is a two-year $6.9 million USAID-funded value chain project that helps develop niche foodstuffs and dairy products. By increasing the efficiency of input, production, processing and marketing businesses and by strengthening market linkages, ASAIL is raising the income and profitability of small- and medium-scale enterprises.
