Kudos Go to ACDI/VOCA e-Learning Course

ACDI/VOCA has long been recognized as the “go-to” organization for the highest quality in on-the-ground trainings and extension services in emerging market countries.

Now our innovative use of information and communications technologies (ICT), including global e-learning courses, has garnered international recognition, too.

ACDI/VOCA’s e-learning course, Cost Principles for Nonprofit Organizations - OMB Circular A-122, is a finalist in the eLearning Global Giveback Competition, a contest sponsored by the eLearning Guild's annual Learning Solutions Conference. LINGOS- Learning for International NGOs (nongovernmental organizations) facilitates the contest and helps match participating organizations with Guild-member volunteers.

“We are grateful for the contributions of our volunteers and are honored to be part of this e-learning recognition,” says John Leary of ACDI/VOCA, who worked with staff members Matt Renaud and Deborah Hanley and volunteer e-learning developers Bonnie Taylor and Lisa Barnstrom to design the tutorial.

“We continually work to expand our e-learning course options, and this course is a major contribution to our growing library," Leary adds. "Web-based, online learning allows us to deliver specific training to the right people when they need it, and all while cutting costs associated with travel and events."

The A-122 online tutorial is one of nearly 20 new ACDI/VOCA e-learning courses created and made available to staff in 21 countries.

“With scenarios, quizzes and games, the A-122 tutorial effectively teaches learners to understand and apply a complicated government regulation,” Leary adds. “Online learning helps us ensure that our international staff—who work in more than 40 countries—receive the training they need.”

ACDI/VOCA joins four other finalists in the award’s Individual/Group Developer category. More than 30 courses were submitted to the competition. All entry participants in the Global Giveback Competition, including ACDI/VOCA, are members of LINGOS.

Winners will be announced March 25 at the eLearning Solutions Conference in Orlando, Fla.
