Thelonious Trimmell

Director, Latin America & Caribbean Portfolio and Farmer-to-Farmer Programs


Director for the Latin America & Caribbean Portfolio and the VOCA Foundation’s Farmer-to-Farmer Programs, Thelonious Trimmell has experience in international community development both in project planning and management. Mr. Trimmell was the deputy country director for ACDI/VOCA’s Darien Community Development Program in Panama. He is well-versed in participatory methodologies including rapid rural appraisal. He also has experience in communication strategies, microenterprise development and volunteer programs. Prior to working in the field for ACDI/VOCA, Mr. Trimmell provided headquarter support to six overseas technical assistance, community and alternative development projects, assisted new business development and program start-up, coordinated volunteer technical assistance and conducted monitoring and evaluation activities. Additionally, Mr. Trimmell worked in rural Honduras for two years as an agricultural extension Peace Corps volunteer. He earned his master’s degree in international affairs development studies from Ohio University. He has studied in France and Mexico and has extensive knowledge of Latin American politics, culture and religion. Mr. Trimmell is fluent in English and Spanish.
