Paul Guenette

Managing Director, Agribusiness Africa Portfolio


Managing Director for Agribusiness Africa, Paul Guenette is an economic development management consultant with expertise in program implementation, agribusiness and trade. Mr. Guenette serves as the operational head of the sub-Saharan region, directing the work of the regional HQ and field staff and consultants in both project implementation and new business development. An agribusiness expert, Mr. Guenette designed and launched an agribusiness development program in mountainous southern Serbia, and was also the Washington, D.C. manager for an Asian regional agribusiness project that delivered a variety of food systems commercialization and marketing support services. He served as chief of party for the technical assistance team implementing USAID’s Export Development Support Project in Kenya, and during this $15 million high-value export project, Mr. Guenette designed and managed programs to improve trade performance of horticulture through sector restructuring and industry association strengthening. He has also served long term in Mauritania, Indonesia and the eastern Caribbean, where he led USAID enterprise development programs and supervised training programs, equity financing, commercial marketing funds and investment promotion. Recently, he facilitated a series of marketing strategy workshops for the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service. He regularly presents at international trade shows and agribusiness conferences. Mr. Guenette earned his M.B.A. at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and his B.A. at Kalamazoo College. He is fluent in French.
