Nicholas Richards
Chief of Party, SUCCESS Alliance Phase II Program in the Philippines
ACDI/VOCA-Philippines Chief of Party Nicholas Richards is expert in tropical agricultural extension, production, irrigation and development; training design and delivery; project management from design to appraisal; monitoring and evaluation planning and implementation; and development assistance management. Currently, he heads ACDI/VOCA’s SUCCESS Alliance Phase II Program in the Philippines. From 2002 to 2004 he served as ACDI/VOCA-Vietnam farming systems advisor for a training and extension project in southern Vietnam. Prior to joining ACDI/VOCA, Mr. Richards worked for the Australian Agency for International Development as country program manager for Tonga. Prior to that, he worked for four years for the Western Australia Agriculture Department in tropical agriculture programs and for eight years for private sector firms in Papua New Guinea. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Project Management, Australian Institute of Training and Development, Irrigation Association of Australia and Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology, and is a certified practicing agriculturalist. He earned his M.S. in agricultural science at the University of Queensland in Australia and his B.S. in agriculture at the University of Sydney. He also holds certificates in project management and workplace training and assessment, along with a graduate certificate in irrigation. He is fluent in Tok Pisin and is proficient in Tagalog and French.
