Daniel Wortman

Director, Emerging from Conflict Portfolio


Daniel Wortman has over 12 years of experience in international development with expertise in the design, management and implementation of projects involving integrated rural development, humanitarian assistance and community-based development in conflict-affected areas. He currently is the director of the Emerging from Conflict portfolio, which is made up of $40.1 million worth of projects involved in the stabilization and reconstruction of conflict-affected regions, including Iraq, Afghanistan, the Philippines and East Timor. Prior to joining ACDI/VOCA, Mr. Wortman worked as senior agreement administrator of a $60 million portfolio of U.S. government-funded grants and cooperative agreements at the National Democratic Institute. With country experience in over 10 countries, Mr. Wortman has conducted numerous technical site visits and led multidisciplinary teams to assess program progress through quantitative and qualitative methodologies. He has coordinated and led numerous training workshops for project staff in Africa and Latin America, covering topics such as project start-up, regulatory compliance and monitoring and evaluation. Mr. Wortman earned his B.A. in history and English and a M.A. in international development and international economics from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. He is fluent in Spanish.
