What is an RSS Feed?
Instead of having to go to a website to check to see if there is new content, RSS (Really Simple Syndication) collects and compiles the information for you in your feed reader. When new content is posted on a site that you subscribe to, it automatically appears in your feed reader. Typically, feeds relate to a particular kind of content and not the entire website. For example, ACDI/VOCA’s feed is for news items. Some websites may offer multiple feeds for different kinds of content.
What is a feed reader?
A feed reader, or aggregator, is where the content from your subscriptions is delivered. Checking this one spot will tell you which of your favorite websites have new content.
There are many different feed readers available. Some are applications may be download and installed, others are web-based services that work within your browser.
How do I subscribe to ACDI/VOCA's feed?
If you use Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox, you will see an RSS feed symbol either on a toolbar (Internet Explorer 7) or in the address bar (Firefox) which indicates that there's a feed available on that page. Click on that symbol and it will take you to a page that will allow you to subscribe. If are asked to select a feed reader in Firefox, select Live Bookmarks*.
If you are using a feed reader, you can either click on the link marked with the RSS feed symbol at the top of this page, which will also take you to a page that will allow you to subscribe, or you can click on the link to the feed above, copy the feed’s web address and paste it into the location designated by your software.

*Note: If Firefox automatically defaults to a particular feed reader, and you would like to change it, open Firefox and go to Tools > Options, click on the RSS icon and either change your setting to provide a preview or change the reader that the feed subscribes to.
